ES&S Sponsors Urban Geotechnical Practices 2010

ES&S was delighted to sponsor last month’s Urban Geotechnical Practices conference. The event was a great success, providing an exciting forum for industry leaders to meet and discuss design, application, solutions and innovation. The event was the ideal platform for ES&S to showcase its latest fibre optic technology, seismograph, blast recorders, slope monitoring systems and new borehole camera, not forgetting old favourites like the point load tester, tilt and water level sensors. It was a great opportunity to interact with some of our major customers as well as develop new relationships.

The conference had been specifically tailored for Geotechnical Engineers in Australia and yet we had several international visitors attend and present. The conference focussed on the current and future trends in ground investigation and the best way to strengthen approaches to the biggest challenges in design and engineering of foundation structures. Case studies were presented from Australia, New Zealand and internationally.

Areas of discussion included:

  • Deep Basement Excavation & Retaining Structures
  • Planning, Designing and Creation of Tunneling & Underground Spaces
  • Site Preparation & Construction Processes
  • Identifying & Managing Geotechnical Risks
  • Overcoming the Uncertainty of Site Conditions to Deliver Accurate Results
  • Specifying which Design Metrics should be Utilised for Individual Projects
  • Ensuring your Involvement Continues throughout the Entire Life Cycle of the Project
  • Overcoming Legal Issues Related To Managing Adjacent Properties
  • Handling Groundwater Effectively and Overcoming Settlement Concerns

Congratulations to all who attended and thank you to IQPC staff for running such a successful event. I look forward to UGP 2011.
