Hollow Inclusion (HI Cell) Rock Stress Measurement for China

ES&S along with its representative partner has won a large tender to supply a governmental body from the People's Republic of China with stress measurement equipment. The research body has extensive expertise in rock mechanics and utilises the CSIRO HI Cell equipment to better understand existing underground stress regimes. Researchers model the stress data and use this information to interpret underground failure mechanisms, folds, faults, earthquakes and more generally crustal dynamics. ES&S has been supplying stress equipment to China for decades particularly to the underground coal mining industry. We have seen a 50% increase in sales into China during recent times which is a direct result of the country's economic growth and improved focus on safety. All coal mines are moving towards better working conditions for their people and naturally safety is a major factor for improvement.
