Hollow Inclusion Cell Stress
Measurement at Freeport
May
2006
Freeport
Mine in Indonesia is conducting feasibility studies for the mining of
new underground mines in the Ertsberg district. Freeport needs to understand
the state of stress that is likely to be encountered. The expected result
of this program is to estimate and determine the magnitude and orientation
of principal stresses for several locations.
The in situ testing program will comprise three phases where a minimum
of five locations are to be tested. Stresses will be determined using
CSIRO Hollow Inclusion Cells.
ES&S is supplying all equipment and services for this major project.
